How to Build a Solar Powered Water Heater - Cheap, Easy, and Green

Have you ever left a bottle of water in the sun or in the car and when you go to drink it it's disgustingly warm? Well imagine if you had left that water in a black water bottle, think that the water in it would be hotter? Of course!
Learning how to build a solar powered water heater is not hard, in fact it is about 90% common sense and 10% good directions. And a quick note that solar powered water heaters work better in warmer conditions and climates so either in the summer or year round in some of the warmer states and countries in this world. But it won't work too well in really cold conditions..duh.
With that out of the way let's go over the basic things we will need to build a solar powered water heater. First we will need black PVC piping. This is where the water will be heated before being stored in the hot water tank. Secondly, if you hadn't guessed we will need a place to store the newly created hot water. I would say that anybody reading this will already have a water tank in their house so there is no need to buy anything more, we will use what we have.
You are also going to need insulating material to insulate the pipes that carry the hot water from the solar powered water heater to the hot water tank. And lastly we will need a light source..any takers??? The SUN perhaps? Ok so the materials can all be purchased at a local hardware store for pretty well less than $100 dollars, give or take a few bucks. I don't know what you all pay for your monthly hot water bill but mine used to be around $40-$50 bucks depending on the month.
Nowadays I pay max $10, I have paid off my solar powered water heater so many times it ain't funny, and it keeps on producing more for me everyday. Is a solar powered water heater perfect? Well pretty darn near, obviously it won't make your water boil, but it gets it dang hot and who wants to have a shower in scalding water anyways?
